Description

When I bought the page, I didn't know the title, artist, story, anything. I bought it solely because I loved the layout and texture. There is something about the opening page or title page that will set the mood for the entire book, and background and architecture is a good way to do it.

That top panel looks so good and effective that you wished it would extend all the way. The underlit gargoyles are very sinister and the heavy illustrative linework is very well executed in density to control light and dark. The bottom panel takes us into the more sterile and controlled environment where all the intensity is locked up behind the doors.

Yeah, that top panel was beautifully executed. You should do a Google search for Bill Jaaska, it's a pretty sad story.
