DescriptionThis was a really odd 4 part sci-fi mini series by DC. I picked up the first issue while on winter break in Florida from the spinner rack and then had to finish it. Although not a popular book, I loved the combination of sci-fi and swashbuckling action. Barbarians vs. civilization ... and he's related to the mushroom people. You don't see Ron Randall's name come up that much in the big auctions ... although that may change with his work on Swamp Thing and Venom! I never picked up Barren Earth when it came out, but I enjoyed the DC House Ads for it and liked Randall's art. He has a very old school illustration approach to his work, which makes sense as he was a student of Joe Kubert. Very nice! Another cool curiosity about this piece is the credits box. It's so weird to see Eric Shanower as the letterer, knowing that he was a great illustrator in his own right!
