Description

The Thing # 6 (Volume 3) page 1
Art by Tom Reilly
Marvel Comics - Apri 6, 2022

This is the opening splash to the final issue of the 6 issue arc, which features a battle ready Thing, Bobby Spector (son of the Watcher), a knocked out Dr DOOM, and Death.

Spoiler alert: In this issue we find out Death/Amaryllis was the mastermind behind all the Heralds and Dr. Doom was behind the robots. Ben and Bobby quickly discover they must team up with Doom, who built the robot army to invade the Underworld to stop Death so he can rescue the soul of his tortured mother.

I fell in love with Reilly's art on this series and loved the twists and turns in the story by Mosley. A fun arc for sure.

Thanks to Tom and Josh at Modern Mythology Comic Art.

UPDATE Jul 2024: I'm excited to share this piece has been on display from July 2024 through January 12th, 2025 for the "Collections In Black" exhibit at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in Pittsburg, PA.

Very unique splash. Love Death's design and the crumpled up pile that is Doom is just wonderful. Really nice work from Tom Reilly.

George, while I'm glad that you picked up this fun splash from a series you enjoy, all I can think of is that you said The Watcher has a son. Who did he bang and is she as large as he is? What's her name?

I also posted Bobby's transformation page, but it happend at the end of issue 5 out of 6 so they didn't dive into the details beyond revealing he's "a descendant of the alien Watchers" and joking the Watcher is his dad. Perhaps we'll get a story and in the future that provides more background.

I too loved that series mainly due to Reilly's art on it.

Great opener in classic Marvel manner!  An impossible situation for the Thing and will spend the rest of the issue to resolve.

Love it! Thanks for posting! This series was beautifully drawn by Tom. I fully admit I don't think I followed the story as well as someone who was more versed in cosmic Marvel tales. That said, I loved the visuals & enjoyed many of the story beats (even if I was slightly confused) haha

Again though, huge congrats!!

Another Reilly winner!  Great contrast with Death vs the other characters, and you gotta love that helmet on Ben :)  Congrats, George!
