Love these pages of vintage George Perez, particularly a nice interior page that includes a splash!

When I saw the first page of original art for Topaz, I mistakenly thought there had been some terrible trimming, since the art image went right up to the border. A moment later, you see Perez was putting an 11"x14.5" image on an 11"x17" page to fit the magazine size format, and so the cropping looks off.

 I love seeing early work by great artists. All the elements are there already. All time adds is a sheen and incremental progress.

It looks like a design Perez would use as basis for Starfire of Blackfire with the space warrior princess theme that was popular once more in the late 70's.
