Description
I am truly honored to add an original from Richard Corben to my collection. This is one of those pieces that is somewhat of a milestone for me. When I first started collecting, I never would have believed that I would acquire original art from Richard Corben, and now that I have, I don't want this piece to be the last.

The mystery begins with this page as we see Roger, Hellboy and police enter the house to investigate. This page has a little bit of everything, and in the first panel we get a wonderful view of the cobweb filled dining room. There are many Hellboy stories that take place in vacant settings such as these and by the time you see this room and the photos of the four found, you know that something ominous is at play.

The next panel is just a great shot of Hellboy and Roger, with the officer preparing to show Hellboy the photos. Really cool to see the technique that Corben uses for the facial design of the characters. The end result is very distinct.

Cut to my favorite and the final set of panels, and we see the family as they were initially found at the dining room table. I love the detail that went into each panel, and they properly set up the mystery as to what exactly happened here. Also note that bottom left panel, on the right side of the panel we see the thumb of the red right hand grasping the photos. I think this is such a nice little touch and I love knowing that Hellboy's thumb is just a big ol' block. This final set of panels was also used on the back cover of this issue and wonderfully captures the beginning of this story.

Want to send a huge and sincere thank you to Dona for the opportunity for this page!!

Huge congrats! Love Corben's rendition of Hellboy. Everyone needs to have a Corben piece in their collection. I'm still working on it.

Congrats Tyler, this is a great page and I have much the same feelings towards my Corben pages. You almost have to pinch yourself about owning them.

Even though the art has a stony surface, Corben's art gave each of these images a life and history from the setting to the final panel.

Super cool to see a Corben doing Hellboy! I'm catching some Tony Moore vibes too.

Wow! I love this--Richard Corben doing Hellboy! Now that's a different take on Mike Mignola's creation! Corben gives Hellboy a very eerie spin!

They never should have said no to desert. Whoops! This is a perfect subject for Corben. I love his horror work, and his style is perfect to step in for Mignola. You don't get much better visual storytelling than this page. And those inks! Lovely work. Big congrats!

A Corben original has long been a white whale of mine.  Any Corben page is special but this one stands out even so.  The atmosphere that Corben creates; the expressiveness in Hellboy's face; and the spooky skeleton really make this a great page to have.  Congratulations!

Congratulations on a great Richard Corben page!  Each panel is terrific, but I especially like the top panel with the fine detail and the group shot including a full-body Hellboy!

Bravo on being the lucky buyer to purchase this page more quickly than anyone else; I was one of the folks you beat out!  I am pretty sure I got another page during the same art sale, but this was my favorite of the ones being offered at the time!
