This Sunday was probably written by Al Capp, who, according to Wikipedia, wrote the strip until 1945, when he handed it off to his brother Elliot Caplin. So we have Al to thank for "His sweet baby called him from town, Willie. He's prob'ly billin' and cooin' wit her now."

So much could happen in one of these pre-war full page Sundays!! Lots of dialogue and exposition in the top two tiers, then all comic action in the bottom, with 6 wordless or nearly-wordless panels. Love the visual storytelling! Check out those speed lines in the next-to-last panel!
