Widely regarded as one of the best Italian illustrators of the last century, Walter Molino (1915-1997) was the cover artist of the famous weekly newspaper "La Domenica del Corriere" for almost 30 years, from 1941 till the end of the '60s.
From the mid '40s he also worked for the popular weekly magazine "Grand Hotel", for which he realized both comic stories and illustrations, often inspired by movie and TV stars of that era.
He was a so good caricaturist that famous Italian writer and painter Dino Buzzati said: "Walter Molino has a scandalous talent in recognizing, and then in transferring onto paper, the facial features that reveal everyone's personality".
This is a sketchy caricatural portrait of Italian actor Mario Carotenuto (1916-1995) published in "60 Caricature dal Video" (1966).
