Russell Stamm, "Invisible Scarlett O'Neill" daily. Jan. 15, 1952

Another obscure strip from the 1940s and 50s, with one of the best titles in newspaper strips, to me. It had some success at the time (at least enough for a 15-16 year run), but remains surprisingly unknown for being a rare female superhero strip.

Scarlett doesn't use her invisibility in this daily, but we get a nice close-up. Creator Russell Stamm had been an assistant to Chester Gould on "Dick Tracy," and it shows. Tilt has the look of a Tracy villain, and dig that noble profile in panel one!

Ah for the early days of ebay... someone was selling four strips in one lot, I've posted them all lately: a Toodles, a Bozo, an Ayer Lane, and this one. I hadn't even heard of any of them except Toodles. Collecting affordable original art, a great way to learn comics history.
