Sonja is gifted with the cursed Blood Crystal of Charii'si which has given her power and ensorcelled her mind. On the command of King Aldernal, she attacks the Temple of Maltus and slays the priests.
Maltus will later reveal to her the Crystal's deadly power and let her free herself from its hold.

I love the last panel in particular. Very beautiful and it looks a lot more like Giordano inks than Colletta. I remember buying this series when it came out and then being very confused when it only lasted 2 issues. It wasn't solicited as a mini-series, so I've always wondered what the story behind it was.

Listen to Red Sonja with the hunger pain
Lusting for the battle that I've seen
I wish that she would get free from blood crystal brain
And leave her mind alone again

The only girl I care about has gone away
Looking for some Simons art
But little does she know Colletta inked that page
The smile on her, she took my heart

Rain please tell me now does that seem fair
For her to steal my heart away, on this page right here?
I can't love another when my art's somewhere far away
