Clowes lays down one of his rare eclectic cover designs bringing new sophistication and maturity to the indie comic scene and coining the 90's term Alternative Comics. This is pretty much what the final would look like and he designed it to look like a page out of a 50's department store catalogue. If you don't like one thing, there will be something else that will keep your interest.

Thank you. It was at Le Paradoxe Perdu, the comic shop of my entire youth, and which closed in 2015. Cumulus is actually occupying their original location, rue des Etuves ...
