DescriptionLadies Week continues!Okay this is a very quirky piece, but I do love the quirk. It's a really fun (and funny) cover with a really nice image of Supergirl by two legendary artists, so I'm very happy to have it in my collection TRIVIA QUESTION: In what year did it become the law for cars to have seatbelts? Answer: 1968. But it wasn't until 1984 that the first laws requiring people to actually WEAR them were enacted. New York was first to do so in 1984. Most states followed suit in the next 4-5 years, but some states waited all the way until the early to mid 1990s. I swear, sometimes it takes us a long freakin' time to realize what's best for us. This Supergirl comic book was part of the 1985-1986 U.S. Department of Transportation's National Security Belt Campaign, and it was handed out to each of the more than 3 million third-grade students in the United States. In the 16-page comic book, Supergirl helps Jack and his sister Sally learn the importance of using a safety belt as they drive through "Motorville," where they interact with a variety of storybook characters, including the Three Little Pigs, Humpty Dumpty, the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe and a pair of Big Bad Wolves, as well as Vince and Larry, a pair of animated crash test dummies. Some of you may be old like me and remember those famous crash test dummies Vince and Larry from TV ads in the mid '80s, and their tagline “You can learn a lot from a dummy? Buckle your safety belt.” Words that are still true today. Thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

With a cover like this, it's pretty clear that you just have everything at this point haha!

So we have finally figured out why Humpty fell off the wall. He was still giddy from accidentally seeing Supergirls underpants!!!

By the look on his face, I can tell the Big Bad Wolf is getting pretty horny! And why wouldn't he? With all those famous fairy tale characters blocking the road and making it impossible to get through, I'd be honking my horn too!

Doesn't get better than this. I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have a page from this insanely delightful comic, so in my book this cover is a grail piece!

Mandating wearing seatbelts is tyranny on muh freedom. I have a natural immunity to car accidents and the odds are very low that seatbelts make a difference on top of the low odds I would be in an accident. Car accident related death statistics are mixed in with other reasons for death. Do your own research, I have and it says that the Earth is flat. Supergirl could verify it, but she's part of the cabal's conspiracy that wants us to obey the alien overlords to keep us in bondage inside our cars. She may be a babe with long legs and flowing locks, but this Orlando and Oksner Supergirl wants me in bondage inside a foreign car. On a day like Memorial Day it is important to remember how important my freedom is.

Hahaha that's great, Marcus. So funny, and yet (sadly) a perfect commentary on how history repeats itself whenever there is a scientific innovation or a proposed reform plan that is designed to help & protect us (so there is less of a need for Memorial Day) but instead manages to throw us into disarray and division. It is tricky because our individual freedoms ARE woven into every major decision that has the air of being imposed on us by our government. But enough of that. I'd much rather admire this babe with long legs and flowing locks that was drawn by two great artists. Supergirl rules! (But hopefully not too much cuz that would be tyranny on much freedom).

Fun piece, Paul! Great shot of Supergirl, and that Humpty Dumpty really stands out. Maybe the perfect character (or not depending on how you look at it!) to promote seat belt wearing?! :) Congrats!
