DescriptionOne of my favorite pieces in the collection. Martin Simmonds is one of those artists whose work I expect to see in a proper museum one day. This splash shows a newly ideated and ill-formed Star-Faced Man, fresh out of Cole Turner's dream, attacks a sleeping Hawk Harrison.There is so much violence in this page, despite any gore. It's a true piece of horror art that takes on a classical vibe from Simmond's contrasting use of sharp white and black lines, splattered red and white, and his unique style of incorporating what I think is a form of gold leaf into his art. The page itself has a lot of texture to it, which is something I really appreciate in original art. I haven't had this framed yet, but I imagine it surrounded by an ornate, gothic wooden frame. That is cover worthy. Nightmarish just like the vile drug of lies that pervade the airwaves to poison minds in the name of ratings. The truth is blurred and taken away as if we never had any right to it in the first place.
