X-Men Annual #1 Pinup - Tom Raney

Wow never seen this one. Wolverine AND omega red? ALL day!

I love it when Raney gets to cut loose with the crazy detailed inkwork like this double pager. Tremendous example from an under appreciated artist. Congrats!!

Can't remember where and when I first saw this piece (could never get that image of Prof X out of my mind).  Or even if it was for sale.  I just remember being reminded of just how much I liked Tom's work and that I needed to get a nice piece by him at some point.  Obviously I haven't gotten to that point yet, because I STILL don't have a Raney piece.  What's funny is that here we are with that very same piece reminding me yet again that I need to get off my tush and add a Raney example to my collection.  Congrats on a fabulous pinup, and thanks for the reminder.  

I'm glad this served it's second reminder to you, Eric! I was surprised over the years to learn that Raney was an "acquired taste" i.e. some people vehemently dislike his work. That took me by surprise because as I mentioned, I've always been drawn to it. The world needs more Tom Raney art! Good luck on your hunt, man!

It has Forge AND Banshee?  As someone who loudly complained back in 1991 when they weren't put on the cover of Jim Lee's X-Men #1, I'm happy to see them here (even if Omega Red seems to be kicking their you-know-whats).

I loved all those pin ups in the annuals AND I've loved Raney's art from day one. Agreed on the energy in his early art and even though he's now much better, you can't get past those positive first impressions (it was a submission page in MArvel age for me ;)

Pure '90s goodness, E!  DPS with some killer uber detail, particularly in that shot of Omega Red - love that!  Raney's definitely underrated.  Congrats!
