Description
Kay Wright and Larry Mayer (inks, attributed) Huey, Dewey, and Louie Junior Woodchucks #31 Cover (Gold Key/Western Publ., 1975). Donald Duck's industrious nephews hijack a turtle to use as a raft. The turtle appears none too pleased. A delightful composition from two acknowledged masters of the Funny Animals genre. In the Disney comic-book mythology, the Junior Woodchucks are a Boy Scouts-like narrative device, introduced in 1951 by Duck-comics maestro Carl Barks. Nobody receives a byline except studio honcho Walt Disney, who had died in 1966. This series' formal copyrighted name is Walt Disney Huey, Dewey, and Louie Junior Woodchucks. Ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 10". Excellent condition. Accompanied by a battered reading copy of the pertinent issue.
