Description

This is one of a few commissions with a holiday theme in my collection, in this case the Fourth of July. The description I gave Ben for it was Mimi in the foreground, sitting on her flying broom with her familiar, watching fireworks in the background. As you can see, there was drift between concept and execution; in the final, color version Ben did add fireworks in the background.

Several years after I commissioned this piece I stumbled over the fact the black-and-white version had been published in an ad for a project Ben did.

Wonderful sense of movement with the flag, hair, and scarf waving. Their cheery faces of Mimi and the cat brings joy and fun.
