DescriptionPublished 1994.'Mayhem Over Manhattan!' Gunfire was one of the 'New Bloods' heroes that were created during the DC Bloodlines crossover event in 1993. In the Bloodlines event alien parasites came to earth attacking and killing humans. A few survivors of those attacked gained super powers. Some of these new heroes were Argus, Loose Cannon, Razorsharp, Terrorsmith, Hitman and Gunfire. Several new series were spun off from Bloodlines including Gunfire which lasted 13 issues. Gunfire had the ability to to explosively convert matter to energy. Most of the 'New Bloods' were killed off in the Infinite Crisis cross over event with Hitman being the lone survivor. Who's watching
Tell me who's watching
Who's watching me
I'm just a comic art fan with a comic art life
I work from 9 to 5, hey hell, I pay the price
All I want is cover art shown, and mist my Hulk cologne
But why do I always feel
Like I'm in the target scope?
It always feel like Hannigan's sketchin' these
And I credit Erwin, Steve
I always feel like Brian Garvey's inkin' these
Tell me is it just a dream?
When I post art at night
I check what's in gun sight
Parasite bites in my Bloodline, trying to avoid
Or can the Gunfire on cover see me,
Or am I just paranoid?
If I'm in the cover,
I'm afraid of the cross hairs
Cause I might open my eyes, Superboy Prime's standing there!
People say I'm crazy, just a little touch
But maybe powers remind me of Crisis too much
That's why...

I don't know anything about the character, but I was always a fan of Erwin's art, especially in the Deathstroke solo series. I think it's very underrated. I also find it interesting that Garvey inked this cover, as I remember when his name suddenly began appearing in the credits of comics without Ian Akin's name also being attached, as they always were throughout the 80's. I've always wondered how they split the inking duties when working together and then wondered why they split up as an inking tandem after so many years of always working together. A mystery that needs solving!

Love the first person perspective used here, as well as the detail. Makes for a great cover.

Fabulous cover image! Love the POV here--Steve Erwin's pencils are terrific! And Brian Garvey's inks really polish it up! Great find!
