This watercolor is painted in the artist's earliest style for figure paintings. It is remarkably similar to the boy in a work Hunt exhibited in 1828.

Very nice painting that shows this slice of life from the past. From the attire to the facial expression to the pose itself, we can see the mannerism and social status of this boy's life if we study the rest of that time period.
