The New Mutants #16 (1984) color guides for pages 7-10

The final story of Sal Buscema's run on New Mutants pencils introduced the rival team of Hellions, students of Emma Frost who were a mixed bag of duped heroes, anti-heroes, and straight-up evil. Giving the NM their own rogues' gallery of "equal and opposite" was a good idea. However, in issue #18, Bill Sienkiewicz took over art duties with a bold and idiosyncratic style which inspired Chris Claremont to write nightmare-themed stories for much of the next year. As a result, the Hellions went to the back burner.

On pages 7-10, the New Mutants cause a blackout to aid their infiltration of the Massachusetts Academy. But unseen threats loom...
