These photocopies of the art, reproduced at publication size, are colored with markers and then tagged with notations as to what combinations of yellow, blue, and red ink should be layered to produce the final product on newsprint. Since the markers are solid colors rather than Ben Day dots, the color guides look nicer.
The color guides of this issue tell an interesting story about an error in the art. Previous artists always depicted the New Mutants' uniforms extending up to cover the bottom half of the neck. However, in this issue the inked art (by Mandrake and DeMulder) does not reflect that. Colorist Feduniewicz tried to rectify the error by coloring the bottom half of their necks yellow. But the final printed pages rarely followed him in this respect.
