Description

There are so many different things that I love about this storyline, and this page in particular. What's ironic is I didn't care for this one when the issue first hit stands. I thought the figures looked rushed (the mustached man with glasses in the lower panel as exhibit A). However, years later when I saw this page in b/w and for sale at Mike's table for (what I consider to be) a very reasonable price, I jumped on it! Strangely Mike was selling this page at a drastically reduced rate ($300 when his norm at the time was $800-900 per page) because he didn't think anyone would want it. After looking at him like he was insane, I quickly dropped my money down on his table and requested any other Wake the Devil 'reject' pages he may have lying around. Needless to say, this and my other Wake the Devil page (purchased at the same time) are the only two I've been able to find. I'm still on the lookout though. Wake the Devil is my absolute favorite Hellboy story and remains so to this day.
