Description
James brought some incredible pieces to Tampa Con and I live in California but I have a good friend that shot a video of all that James had with him and I immediately asked if he could get this one for me and he was able to and it all worked out! It's good to have friends in this hobby that help extend your reach for things like this. Thanks again for the assist Hector!

James used this piece as a print as well, which my buddy got for me with it. The piece is painted on a 9x12 heavy Crescent art board, and he titled it "6 Mile" on the back. The print is a little larger at 11x17.

Update June 2025:
I ran into James at Fan Expo Dallas last weekend and was surprised to find out it became a cover. He said that people love the image so he decided to use it as a cover and then he told me the story of how he lived at the corner of 6 Mile and West Grand which was a true ghetto back then. He uses the city of Detroit as a character almost in his work, so that explains a lot.

So this painting was just used as a limited edition cover for The Crow: Dead Time #3, limited to 300 copies. So I have updated the post and added pics to additional images. This was painted back in 2022 as something James did to sell the painting and I purchased it in 2022. It was just published in 2025 and became a variant cover.

Great character who's importance and stature has only grown through the years because of the enduring themes O'Barr touches upon.

This is an incredible piece, from the master of tragedy and despair. The brick and stonework background is amazing. Great addition to the collection.
