Description

Continuing my All Star Toons collection based on the cover of All Star Comics #37 with different character gorups.

This piece done by the famous comic strip artist Hy Eisman who has been doing comic strips since 1950 and most recently was doing the Popeye comic strip in the newspapers for the last 28 years.

Mr Eisman has just recently turned 95 and has now retired from doing Popeye.

I was lucky enough to get him to do this commission for me.

A modern piece by him is just as rare as his earliest works. Great reworking of the concept!

I leave most of it up to each artist. I pick the starting cover (All-Star Comics #37) and I pick the group to use (popeye heroes/villains)

The rest as far as who is used / how the heroes are restrained / what the villains a doing is mainly their imagination.

So it is always a great surprise when it arrives. :-)
