He didn't have the film to work with to see what he could be drawing to and just drew what he saw in the script and maybe some photos. This shows his version that he did not adpat to look like the film which is really cool to think about as he basically had to do the storyboarding on his own.

Agreed, it had no business looking as good as it did with what he must have had to work with back then!
