Description
I've always felt that Don Heck is one of the most under appreciated artists in the industry. I always loved his female charaters in the '60's and seventies, and outside of John Romita Sr., he was always the best female artists. Bill Everett was one of the best artists period. Getting this page, penciled by Don and inked by Bill is nothing short of amazing! And it's the origin of Watchlord! Of course, it's his only appearance since he dies in the same issue ;-)

More info: The Black Widow and Ivan are captured by a racist German, the Watchlord, who loathes all Russians due to his childhood involving the Russian invasion of Germany; He wraps Natasha up in floorboards but Ivan rescues her and they escape; A boulder crushes the Watchlord. The Black Widow feature ends with this issue

Neat page. Love the expressions here. A true mark of the best artists. I agree with you on Don Heck. Watchlord may not have lived on.. but he may have inspired some GI Joe villain costumes that came a bit later🙃
