DescriptionNew Golden Age Team-Up Project commission - The Brave & The Bold issue #217, pairing Batman with Black Canary, in a Bambos Georgiou-drawn cover adapted from Defenders #36, original art by Gil Kane and Mike Esposito.1948 - and Batman regains consciousness after his beating at the hands of Solomon Grundy in the previous issue, to find medics attending to Air Wave, who suffered a broken leg when he crashed into - and through - his hastily-constructed jamming device. Although battered, the Caped Crusader climbs into the Batmobile and sets off on Grundy's trail, while Air Wave promises to repair the jammer to try and disrupt whatever signal is directing the marshland monster. Meanwhile, in the city centre, florist Dinah Drake is awaiting a truck collecting a crate delivered to her shop by mistake the previous evening, clearly mixed up with a delivery of exotic blooms from South America. Her attention is distracted, however, by the sounds of police sirens, and she ducks into her back room only to emerge in her costume as The Black Canary! Rushing to see what's happening, she finds the police confronting by a rampaging Solomon Grundy, and leaps into the battle! Although outmatched, Black Canary's martial arts skills allow her to evade Grundy's attack temporarily - and as she's about to be overwhelmed, a roaring engine signals the arrival of the Batmobile, which Batman rams into her opponent at high speed, knocking him down and allowing Drake to escape. As she does so, however, a second villain appears, astride a giant plant-stalk - Ramulus! The pair of heroes confront the two villains, with Ramulus' vines choking Batman - until Black Canary swings down on a cable from a nearby construction site, causing his mentally-controlled vines to go wild, wrapping around his villainous ally, which in turn makes Grundy attack the plants. The heroes' upper hand doesn't last long, however - as Batman frees himself, Grundy lashes out and sends the Gotham Guardian flying, while Ramulus explodes a seed-pod on one of his plants in Black Canary's face, and the cloud of spores released knock her out. With the two heroes out of the fight, Ramulus and Grundy advance - to Dinah Drake's shop, which they enter, scooping up the mis-delivered crate, and then simply walk away with their prize, leaving the two heroes where they lie... To be concluded - next issue! Side note: although unusual, the Black Canary logo used here is taken from her story in Flash Comics #102 (one of the things I'm discovering while doing these covers is just how many Golden Age heroes had multiple logos in their appearances - some of which I think deserve to be revived). I work all night, I Dinah Drake to have the skills I have today
Air Wave’s sad
And still there never seems to be a Gil Kane cover left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a flower stand
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd wait around have crate involved
Grundy, Grundy, Grundy
Black Canary
In Giorgiou’s world
Grundy, Grundy, Grundy
Black Canary
In the Batman's world
Aha
Ramulus I could do
If I had Solomon Grundy
It's a Bruce Wayne’s world
It's a Batman's world

Marcus, your lyrics are so cool ( I will be singing Abba in my sleep ) This is a great cover to homage. Black Canary works so well in the Red Guardians place. Loving these B&B pieces
