It's amazing that Guardineer had kept the pieces from his art portfolio after he gave up comics and that eventually he sold them to a collector. Now it is yours!
An incredible piece of history! Congrats!
Phenomenal purchase! A real piece of DC and comic book history here!
What a wonderful acquisition!! History in front of your eyes....
So awesome that you were able to get this. Tons of bricks on an exceptional piece. Congrats!
well done
I get you are one minute later, but love to see this work from over 80 years ago!!
Talk about old school! Congratulations on a historic pickup!
Great piece, right collection!
Amazing find!
It's amazing that a cover from this era exists. Congrats!!!!
Well, that's totally cool!
True history is now held in your hands. It is an honor to see this.
Amazing and so rare. Possibly the best value buy in the entire auction, too. So glad you won it. Congratulations, my friend!
Thank you Jim - yes, very happy about this one - really "needed" it...:)
Wow! Such an early Detective Comics cover! Fabulous pick-up!
Truly thrilling to see this cover preserved. What an outstanding piece of our history. Pre-hero DC comics was actually one of my focus areas of comic collecting before I gave up pursuing back issues with marriage taking over my time and financial resources way back in 1991 - it really is a joy to know this cover has survived and is here for us to enjoy.
Great addition!
Congrats! Amazing early DC cover! Wow!
A classic cover, so early in the history of US comics. It is incredible that it survived. Thanks for sharing it.
I have spent a LOT of time drooling over the pre-Batman Detective covers. Those early artists sure knew how to design with bricks!!
