Description

Here's the latest addition to our SF art collection. By the great Frank Kelly Freas, it was the cover of the October 1955 issue of Fantastic Universe. No friendly neighborhood UPS, Post Office or Fed Ex folks were involved in getting this one. We'd arranged to acquire it just before Chicon, so were able to pick it up in person there.

This coloured drawing was very different for a cover by Freas at the time. We are so used to his paintings that a coloured drawing for a cover was unique.

That's a wonderful piece with Kelly Freas stretching out with fashion designs out of imagintion just as he would for space ships. The carpet has an incredible amount of textiles in patterns and textures.
