A wrap around cover for the paperback novel The Barbarian Princess by Laura Buchanan (Berkeley, 1978). Buchanan is actually a pseudonym for the writer Florence King, who started her career as a reporter for the Raleigh News & Observer and then went on to be a nationally known columnist - "The Misanthrope's Corner" - for the National Review. She is also known for the books With Charity towards None: A Fond look at Misanthropy, and Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady.
Barbarian Princess was a pretty raw book for the time period ... a bodice ripper filled with violence, gore, and erotic sex ... hence the use of a pseudonym.
