Mark Trail Daily Strip ORIGINAL ART By Ed Dodd/Jack Elrod - POPLLUTE THE RIVER p. 1 of 6 pages 1983

Provenance From James Allen, who created the internationally syndicated comic strip Mark Trail for ten years (4 assisting Jack Elrod, 6 on my own). When Jack retired, he gave James his Mark Trail collection. Among the items in the collection, were stacks of ORIGINAL art for the daily strips Ed Dodd created. Each item is an individual day from the weekly comic strip which ran in hundreds of papers nationwide, including the Washington Post. Each one is hand-drawn, black and everything is hand-drawn, including the dialogue/lettering except for the copyright sticker (which is a small adhesive label supplied by the publisher.). Each one bears Ed Dodd/JackElrod signature and ran in papers on the date specified. There are notations in non-photo blue in the upper left corner on most of them (usually the publishing date.)

By late 1979 Jack reduced the size of the strips - most were now 18.5'' wide by 5'' tall

This is is late 1983. I just loved it and the history.
This daily art is from 10/14/1983 when Jack was the artist but still working in both names.
