Gil Kane, Superboy #46 cover

I am not a fan of Superman/Superboy. I never found the character that compelling.

When I was a kid my mom, sister and I would spend multiple weeks in Pittsburgh visiting her family. In 1983 my uncle bought me a couple of comic books; one was this issue of Superboy.

I clearly remember lying on the bed flipping through the pages and reading the story over and over again. I STILL own that issue my uncle bought me almost 40 years ago.

Several years ago I saw this cover on display, for sale, at the San Diego Comic-con in the Comic Connect booth. I lamented on buying it and ended up leaving the show without it. Fast forward to Covid times and it was up for auction at one of the major sites. I didn't have the money to pick it up so I missed out again.

A few months ago I get the regularly scheduled emails from Will Gabri-El and it's the first thing listed.
At this point it's a sign from Zod that I need to pick up this piece for my collection and the nostalgia it holds. I immediately reached out and worked the details with Will.

It's a gorgeous example of Gil Kane's work. The lines are tight. The action is explosive. This coupled with the acetate overlay makes this beauty a gem in my collection I hope to never part with.
