This hyper-detailed Hard Boiled #1 DPS by Geof Darrow is a key origin page from the 1991 Eisner Award ("Best Writer/Artist") winning mini-series written by Frank Miller. Probably Darrow's largest (22" x 34") published artwork, drawn on massive 22x34 board-- extended 3.5" at bottom to capture it all!

Hard Boiled’s ground-breaking, mind-blowing narration-free (no word balloons) storytelling and free-flowing imagery with insane “Where’s Waldo” level details pushed the boundaries of comics forever. Darrow's work is awe-inspiring and presents a radical if not revolutionary vision for comics and graphic novels.

Set in an apocalyptic version of Los Angeles, the story focuses on Carl Seltz, a homicidal cyborg assassin, whose origin/creation is depicted on this page-- dozens of scientists surround the cyborg, who is in a pose inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. Here, Darrow draws some of the most complex machinery ever seen on a comic book page. Hard Boiled pages rank among Darrow's most sought-after works, especially examples from issue #1.

Madness in Darrow's dedication to achieve this level of density for a grand presentation! Controlled noodling with concentration of creativity to mark this cyberpunk scene. It is inspiring by setting a new benchmark in comic art.
