Thank you, James! Very much appreciate it. I was on the fence about posting as there are a couple of things I want to be private about having. However, I came to the conclusion that this moment meant so much to me as a kid that if others felt the same way I owed them the opportunity to zoom in and see how this page was crafted by Adam. In the end I view this hobby as holding onto artifacts and I don't really feel like I "own" the things I have. This stuff in a way belongs to all of us, I'm just lucky that I get to hold a few of the pages in my hands until my trip around the sun comes to an end.

Every line stroke done with intent to show pain!  It gives us a visceral reaction to see so much of it and is why the image is seared into the minds of anyone who read the issue.  Which was a lot people as it was the top seller on the stands and in the aftermarket with this cool revelation of the bone claws.  We thought Wolverine's mutant power was just the healing factor and this rewrote everything!

Thank you and totally agree as usual, Marcus. It's amazing to me how well this page conveys his pain and how uncomfortable it can make you feel without being too graphic and going over the top. I rush back to my original moment of shock everytime I revisit it.

This is a big one in the pantheon of Wolverine, especially for us who were reading/collecting in the nineties.  Very few stories were bigger than Wolvie getting his adamantium pulled out of him (purely my opinion).  I am a big fan of all things Wolverine, I was one of the underbidders, and I know two others.  I am glad you posted it, because we were stumped.  So, thanks.  It is a heluva piece, and an integral part of Wolvie's history.  Huuuuuge congrats on this historic takedown!

Thank you and it's an opinion I share as well. I heard a few people on CAF were interested in this one. I ultimately decided to post it because one of the great things about this website is its function as an archive and its ability to perserve this history of the stories we all love so much. The page deserved better than to disappear forever. I am hoping one day there is an X-Men exhibit similar to the recent Spider-Man one so people can check it out in person. I suspect you are roughly around my age which puts us on the younger side of the OA community. As much as I love Chris Claremont's run on X-Men it was something I picked up years later. This story and a couple others around this time were the definitive X-Men stories for me during my formative years/early teens. A few collectors I talked  to thought I was crazy when I shared where I thought the auction would end up. I'm glad it didn't go there but it did prove to me the Frank Miller era of OA collectors are still in the driver's seat.

Thanks! Yeah he is this guy who was bitten by a radioactive badger... err weasel? and he goes out at night to beat up criminals because he lost his parents as a child in a robbery gone wrong.

Absolutely EPIC in so many ways.  I really enjoyed your personal insight and connection to this piece.  Beautifully said and it went to the right person.  Thank you for posting on here so we can all share and see it's glory.  A monumental piece in not only Wolverine history, but in X-Men and even more so in comics, this is almost 20 years in the making from when he was introduced in 1974 til this very issue in 1993.    Huge congrats doesn't say it all but "snikt" does, so "HUGE SNIKT" to you!

To me, this is in the top 3 of Wolverine /X-men interior pages of all time. The fatal attractions comics were some of my favorites as a kid and I read them over and over again. I am in awe of this page. Thank you for posting it!

Thanks, Eric! Yeah, anything but a splash would have underplayed the moment. The page is quite large (the actual art is 12x18) so in person it really feels like a big moment as it looms over all the 11x17 pages.

I still have my copy of this issue stashed away. To own this very page, one I remember so well, is a terrific honor. This is a very classic moment from this moment of time that defines the period. Top shelf A+ example of the best in nineties art. 2 SNIKTS Up # #

Wow! Wow! Wow! Now that's a memorable moment in Marvel history! I remember how shocked we all were when it was revealed that Wolverine had BONE CLAWS!!! I remember I was floored. There aren't too many times in a comic book reader's life that your are really, truly astonished. This was one of them. The fact that it was revealed in kickass art by Adam Kubert and Dan Green was secondary. The important thing was....BONE CLAWS!!!

Fun fact: bone claws were a product of sibling rivalry. Andy got to draw Magneto ripping out Wolverine's adamantium so Adam said not only and I going to redraw magneto doing it again, but I'm going to give Wolverine claws to replace the ones he lost. Absolutely didn't happen but I like to spread disinformation that might screw someone over on a game show one day.
