The setup is sooooo Alfred Hitchcock by showing the briefcase under the table in the first panel. Absolutely brilliant! The whole setup is like the time bomb scene from North by Northwest, which Hitchcock used to explain the difference between shock and suspense in cinema. You show the case, instilling suspense. You show the bad guys. You do not let the audience know when the timer is at, or in this case, what is in the case. Suspense. It is makes you hold your breath and squirm to the edge of your seat for the whole scene, rather than just doing a quick over and done jump scare.

This is by far my favorite Bad Idea Art I acquired. Issue 1, page 1 of the Hero Trade, a highly sought after issue by Bad Idea fans.

11x14 pencils and inks on bristol with David’s signature at the bottom right.

Awesome detailed page by Lapham. He sets a great scene with five smooth storytelling panels.
