Description

This commission shows Man-Thing pursuing the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing through a swamp, per the events of Marvel Two in One # 77. I am pretty sure this was the second comic book I ever bought and, thus, holds a special place in my heart. The issue has two of the elements I love to see in a Thing story: Ben crashing an experimental aircraft during a test flight and relying on his inner strength (and not just his brawn) to overcome adversity.

Tom Grindberg's pencil portion of this commission was completed in March 2005. Joe Rubinstein's inks were delivered in August 2006.

** Update: This commission has now seen publication in the December 2008 issue (# 31) of Back Issue magazine from Twomorrows (Steve Gerber tribute issue with Howard the Duck on the cover). They cut off the left and right sides for layout reasons. Also, the drawing is mis-identified in Back Issue as a Marvel Two in One # 1 commission, which is obviously not the case.
