Mike Mignola was a presenter at Lightbox Expo in Pasadena last weekend. On Friday morning, I was helping my brother and his crew set up the Stuart Ng Books booth when I saw Mike and Peter de Seve walk up. I gave them their space. When I noticed Stuart flipping through an art portfolio, I had to go take a peek. My brother was making his selections. He pointed to a Batman he was contemplating and I told him he should get it. This skull was my purchase from Mike. Since buying my sole Hellboy page in 1998, this is my first art purchase from Mike. Of course, I have purchased numerous books, sketchbooks, and prints from the Hellboy creator.

Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters is a wonderful documentary. I was struck by his days haunting Berkeley used book stores with his brothers. Also the visits to the Mountain View Cemetery in Piedmont. Those reminded me of my own visits to those places.
