DescriptionBlack Panther #13 homage variant coverArt by Paco Medina Written by John Ridley Marvel Comics - January 11, 2023 My first piece of Black Panther art and I couldn't be happier that's it's stunning homage that was masterfully pencilled by Paco Medina. Paco's pencils are so tight that no traditional inks were needed! This cover was created as part of a set of homage variant covers Marvel did earlier this year. I love Paco's slight updates to the poses and layout while still being an instantly recognizable homage to Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four #52 cover, which was published July 1966. So cool to see this homage 57 years later! I addd a digital overlay for the full cover effect. Social/Sharing |

Looks like it went direct to colors with Paco Medina doing enough in pencil and providing a sharp and heavy weights to the thicker Kirby-esque outlines for a rousing tribute.

Love it, George! You immediately know the image. I mean, just the intro of one of the best characters in all of fiction :) BUT Medina provides a modern spin with the super clean pencils that flat out works. Good point on the slightly changed poses (I like Johnny's change a lot here) and also rad seeing Medina's Kirby Tech take, too! Congrats, man!
