Description

If you've seen a lot of Nick's covers and read his stories, you might notice he has a way with brick walls. I don't know what it is. But I love his brick walls. And I love how he drew Batman's cowl in the Brave & Bold stores. I didn't like how he drew Batman's cowl in the various Batman and Detective covers. Something about how the batears seemed to be converging. Anyway, I asked Nick to do his B&B Batman and brick walls.

This is inked, but Nick used what I call his "scratchy background" technique in the bricks and cobblestones to create tones/shading. If you look closely at his great Teen Titans work, you'll see it there.

Voila.

Batman was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane.

I agree with you. The brick walls and cobblestones are particularly cool and really add to a great image. Thank you for sharing.
