Wowza! Grew up with Supes in the '70s in comics, tv, and of course, the movies! Which all set the stage for the monumental event of John Byrne moving over to the Distinguished Competition and setting out to remake their flagship character. What a perfect capper to that event. Congrats, CAB!

Many thanks, Felix!  I know that this will sound like heresy but because I did not grow up with Byrne during my formative years, so to speak, there is not that burning desire for his artwork (which is just as well because it is so very expensive nowadays).  I did like him a lot as an artist though.  But this image of Superman is huge and was simply irresistible if I could have swung it (just - but not today though!).

Culmination of the mini series and brought back a lot of the lustre of Superman as the movie era was fizzling out.  A big coup for DC to get Byrne as he had done almost everything at Marvel.

Arguably the greatest, most iconic John Byrne Superman splash in existence, and you forgot you had it?!?! I'm at a loss for words, because I truly don't know what to say other than "Congratulations!".

Dear Rubén, as I mentioned in an earlier comment, I am baffled myself.  I guess that I always knew I had it but had forgotten to post it.  I did want to post it a long time back but it probably just slipped my mind.  I don't want to psychoanalyze myself but it is quite possible that the generational reason (that I did not grow up, so to speak, with this mini-series and which I therefore did not realize how important it was to a later generation) may be one reason why.  Also, I never used to post much in any event.  Whatever the reason, it was YOUR show that triggered this so kudos to you, my friend.  BTW, you could let the participants on your show know.  I would also love to know what they think of this splash (although it's not the DOS).

A MoS Byrne Superman page doesn't get better than this! WOW, so iconic! Major congrats on this gem!!!!!

I always buy art for nostalgia, storyline, character, content, and artist. I also love self containing character pages with word balloons that tell a story and don't buy anything without word balloons. This formula has served me well which is why it's impossible for me to sell anything since I love the art purchased. It also creates true scarcity. I don't have nostalgia for this since I never read it but everyone told me I should pick up this period. All said this has every other characteristic I look for in a page. Deff a keeper and I wouldn't be surprised if you receive a lot of offers. Congrats again on a great hold:)

I remember taking the Man of Steel trade paperback out of my local library in 1989 and reading it in one sitting, with this page being the capper to the story that made me a fan of Superman comics.  Iconic doesn't begin to describe this epic splash.

Nice piece!  John is NOT the earsied person to Ink.  I have some experience.  It's hard to figure out what he "means" sometimes.  In fact, sometimes he scribbles-in some ren dering going in 4 or 5 different direction at the same time, and if you do that with Ink, it becomes a black area with no shape.

Terry is still my fave over John, but Dick's work here is damn dazzling<
