DescriptionAbout 20 years ago, I traded a really nice George Perez/Pablo Marcos Avengers page (and a page from the first issue of Perez's "new" Avengers run) for a couple of great George Perez/Dave Hunt Fantastic Four pages. A couple of months ago, in a deal with the same collector, I traded George Perez/Joe Sinnott Fantastic Four pages for Sal Buscema/Pablo Marcos Avengers pages. Because late 1970s Avengers pages have gotten to be very hard to acquire, I am very happy with this trade. I may even have to frame this one, from a very memorable story from my youth! (I'm still hoping to reacquire a strong Perez/Marcos Avengers page someday though.)Social/Sharing |

What a fantastic Avengers page! I love the inking. The action is great, especially the bottom panel. Congratulations!

Top and bottom panels are outstanding! I'm a fan of Marcos' late 70's inking and they look great with Sal's pencils.
How often did they say "Avengers Attack"? My guess is not many.

Marcos is a great inker. This page is a true classic thanks to panel 1 and 4, but also the villain section is very well rendered. Great Buscema storytelling here!

Sal really sells it with huge emotional beats with two reactions of shock sandwiched between classic Avengers imagery.

Those Marcos inks look perfect over Sal's pencils. I'd never noticed how well they mesh before. He really Gets Sal's angry face look, too. The page is it worth it just for the panel of Vision coming through the wall. And I love it when the super-baddies are shocked they were sold out. Deal with it! What an excellent page, Lee. Excelsior!
