Description
It is generally easy to identify if a publicity drawing is for Three Orphan Kittens (1935) or More Kittens (1936). First, there are very few drawings for the former --I have seen precisely ONE finished drawing for the earlier and more imortant film -- the one which won the Academy Award for best short in 1935. They were drawn for the Whitman children's book and for six publicity stills. I have one of the drawings used for both -- the kittens jumping on a pie. They were all drawn by Tom Wood and would be in black pencil, no red at all, as was almost always true of Wood's art. There was no Good Housekkeping page for Three Orphan Kittens. The designs of the kittens were more rounded and were cuter than the kittens in the second cartoon. Simple, huh???

Drawings from More Kittens were done for still photographs, the More Kittens Good Housekeeping page for the short, and some children's books. They were done by Manuel Gonzales in black and red pencil
