Description

A charming panel which depicts Columbus fleet (17 ships, about 1200 men) departing from Cadiz, Spain, on Sept. 25, 1493 for the second voyage to the new world.
I really like the way Milo draws inspiration from the Old Master paintings!

Sadly, this time I wasn't able to acquire the whole published page, consisting of two large panels. Anyway, you can admire the bottom panel (Columbus making a pleasant stop in La Gomera, Canary Islands) by looking at the additional images here above.

Written by Italian journalist and popularizer Enzo Biagi and beautifully illustrated by Milo Manara (54 pages) and Giacinto Gaudenzi (37 pages), this biography in comics of the great explorer and navigator was first published in Italy in 1991 (by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore) and then in other European countries.

"Don't forget the milk!" Midieval shopping trips were brutal. Sometimes, no one came home! Man, this is so lovely. I especially enjoy how Manara can make a beautiful face with so few lines or details. Reminds me of Winsor Mccay. You have a lovely collection of his work. Great score!
