Description

A friend of mine tipped me of to this spread on Ebay and at first we both thought it was a David Finch piece, because why actually read the description? Then I thought, there's no way a Finch is going for that price. That's because it's not Finch, it's by Brian Ching. So I put this on the back burner because I was going after a Michael Turner DPS, which I didn't end up winning. As a consolation to myself I ended up buying this and a Finch, Ascension DPS for around half what I was bidding on the Turner. While I really like these pieces, I'm still a little irritated that I didn't get the Turner, but that's life.

What I find interesting about this piece is that it wasn't taped in the center to do it as a DPS, and some of the lines on each side seem like they were supposed to continue on the opposite page but don't. So it makes me wonder if it started out as two splashes and someone along the way thought a double page spread would look better. Regardless it's an awesome piece and my first double page spread.

When you see Ascension and DPS, you think Finch. This looks Finch too with the composition like one of his pieces. Ching does a great job with the intense linework and of course the fantasy babes and angelic feathers that seem to be on every page.
