Description

This image is another case of having to swap out a gruesome image per publishers wishes. I had no idea I was creating a middle-grade book when I was doing this, but Top Shelf decided it would be marketing it that way, so I had to make some changes. i had to remove the Death of Superman cover I originally had, which was just the black bag, bloody superman symbol, but the Kid Cosmo one instead. Tyler got on my radar after reading 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, which was my favourite book in about a decade. I knew he would do something fun, so I reached out, told him I wanted the ripped cape death of Superman cover homage, and that was it. he came back with this piece and I love it. there is always a story to Tyler's work. Even in his single image pages, and this one has so much going on. I honestly started writing a story about this dude and how superheros messed up his life. I had to do a different colour scheme for the book (Tyler also did a colour version, and a gray scale), and take out the cigarette, but I honestly think it is my favourite image in the book, and I LOVE Tyler's versions.
