DescriptionFeaturing four short stories within a story, issue #30 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the New Mutants. These five pages (posted separately) spotlight Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane) and Warlock shadowing Doug Ramsey (Cypher) and some of the other team members, on what they think is Doug's birthday. They realize it is, in fact, a party celebrating the founding of the team. Warlock and Rahne realize the birthday gifts they had picked out are actually perfect for each other.Poggi inks over Kubert printed blue line pencils. Social/Sharing |

Trying to celebrate into the night
And then your Food Court charms around me
And we Marvel to the art and then you say
I think we're at the mall now
There doesn't seem to need anyone around
I think we're at the mall now
The gift that's in the page that I only found

Emma's cousin Katie Kubert (Joe, Adam, Andy, Emma, Katie... what a family!) was an editor on Guardians of the Galaxy before heading to DC 5 or 6 years ago.

Loving Warlock in this, and extra credit to the letterer for Warlock's emoji-based assessment of what Doug means to him!

Excellent observation! I think the updates to Warlock's techno-speak the last couple of years have really helped modernize the character, without detracting in any way.
