This is my very first commission request. Bob Layton inked a convention sketch of John Byrnes and added detail and other elements. At the time, I was new to requesting commissions from an artist, and I tried to get John Byrne to do a tighter version of the sketch. But that was not to be.
I love how John drew the character and I thought his sketch was the perfect pose. Bob did a great job of recreating it for me.

Layton adds all the glitz and glamor of the original Byrne run that had the Austin inks! It certainly achieves it if he set out to do that look!

I honestly don't know what Bob was trying to do. I didn't give him any direction. At that time I din't know you could.

I think if Byrne did it, he would have no interest in making it look vintage and just used his modern style.

I saw on Byrns forum that John really displiked Bob's inks.

A very nice one!!! I love the way that Jb's used to draw long hairs (Phoenix and She-Hulk). Very nice inks by Layton!
