Spidey flying right off the page! Too cool!!
Such a joy to see a Bagley Spider-Man.
Perfection!
Heluva page, fantascic page layout!
Awesome action sequence!
This page is a stellar example of what fun Spider-Man should be!
An early USM Bagley page?! What's not to love! I love any image where the hero is moving through the panel. Great addition!
Our boys went rat-tat-tat-tat
Rat-tat-tat-tat
And shot the Spider where he sat-tat-tat-at
With every Mark Bagley pop
Sping Thibert ink drop
Ultimate boys are all such straight shooters
We'll take care of that Parker
When he jumps out panel wall
We'll take care of J Jonah
We'll shoot everything that Bendis would yeah--and more
Rat-tat-tat-tat
Reverse wear rock a ball cap
They deserve an original of joys

"Reverse wear rock a ball cap" - I liked that one :) Thanks, man, and all, as always! I hope '23's starting off right for you! This post definitely help's my start...how can you not dig some Bagley doodles?!
Love it! - I personally think the best bagley Spiderman was the early ultimate stuff! Congrats!
Such a dynamic page. You can feel the motion! Nice one K
Fun early Bagley USM
Nice multiple image "Spidey in motion" scene! That's clearly the money shot right there and it's from such an early issue. Hard to believe this material is going to be a quarter of a century old just a couple of years from now! Congrats on swinging this (pun intended)!
Man, it's so weird. I don't naturally think that initially reading this book, and Morrison/Quitely X-Men, and Peterson/Puckett/Scott Batgirl, among others, was that long ago. But it was!. A bit over half my life so far, lol. I've been enjoying reading through some of the trades recently Takes me back :) Thanks!
Awesome spidey action, love it! Comgrats.
Beautiful example, K! Bagley and Bendis crafted a Spidey run that leapt off the page, and you have a perfect (and literal :) ) example of that here! These pages are starting to be trickier to pick up than hen's teeth, and you landed a sweet one. I love how the pace here goes from loud frenetic energy - gunfire! leaping spidey! bounding spidey! - to quiet tension, on an absolute dime; you can hear the gunshots echoing off and the helicopter peeling away and fading into the distance on the bottom half of the page here. Awesome Bagley action-storytelling on display. Great pick up, K! Congrats!
Yup, getting trickier to pick up, no doubt, but there have been some nice options later in the run that I've seen. BUT I was adamant about getting one from those first 13 issues, so I'm stoked to have done it now! Nice art as well as pulling at them nostalgia strings :) And totally agree regarding the freneticism to stillness - cinematic stuff. Thanks, man!
Wow awesome early Ultimate Spider-man art! Congrats
That is an EXCELLENT example from those wonderful early Ultimate Spider-Man issues. I always love it when you get multiple images of a character being all acrobatic, and when that character is Spidey, it's even better!! Besides being a great artist, Bagley is such an effective story teller too. Great addition!!
That top panel sequence is top notch!
Sweet Bagley pickup here nice to see his take on the stop motion effect!
Jukeeee Moves!!!! Awesome Bagley Page Bud!!
The first couple of years of Ultimate Spider-Man were so much fun, and Bagley was arguably producing the best art of his career. Congrats on landing this great example from those glory days.
Agree, man! I remember liking Bagley art from Amazing Spider-Man and New Warriors, but his ability to tell a story with the action scenes as well as convey emotions in the quieter ones...Ultimate stood out to me. Thanks, Michael!
No one does Spidey in motion better than Bagley. The figures are so kinetic and full of life. Congratulations!
Mark Bagley has become a modern classic on ASM. I love his work. This page is a perfect example of it. Last panel is killer. I love it!
A whole lot of THWIPPING going on! great page - love the broekn panel a lot. Congrats brother - this is a beaut!
Fabulous Spider-Man page by the incredible Mark Bagley! I love how Bagley drew Spidey's crazy gymnastics as he somersaults his way across the page--And right off the page! Too cool!
Very light and almost cartooney in style. The movement of Spidey is fantastic.
What a fun action page from a very early appearance of Ultimate Spidey. Love it!
Bagley was so locked in throughout this run, but I remember reading those first 25 issues with a breathless excitement. You've got a nice example here!
Getting to see you in person at Rose City this year was the high point of the con for me, K, hands down. Another -very- memorable moment for me was when you showed this to Brian and he remarked how this page (thanks to the fantastic artistic muscle of Mark Bagley) really defined for him the size of the stage he was on, the level of talent of his collaborators, and how to best tell a Spidey story. He said that his script had described this as a pretty straightforward scene, but when the pages came back and there was this gorgeous Spider-Man cartwheel and great storytelling moments, it was like a lightbulb going off. "I didn't know you could really -DO- that..." I remember him describing the page as one of the moments he -really- figured out how to tell a Spidey action sequence, which was a really moving moment of truth and humility from one of the best Spidey writers to ever tackle the character. Thanks for allowing me to share that moment, K! (Let's do another one soon! :) )
Yes, you got it! Man, it was awesome hearing Bendis just GO, unsolicited. He saw the page and thought of the sequence and just laid out everything you just did. I appreciate you chronicling for us :)
And was stoked to make it to RCC, man, and to get to kick it in our element! 'Til next time!
