Description
PERRY RHODAN-Novel #5 (Original Cover Art) - Johnny Bruck (* March 22, 1921; † October 6, 1995).

I have been able to track down a few very early PERRY RHODAN original covers which still exist from the first publication year 1961. A lot of memories come back looking at these artworks which still have radiant color and are in great condition despite the age. I feel very lucky this week... I have been looking for these for many years!

The printed version was published first on October 6, 1961 under the title »Atom-Alarm« (Nuclear Alarm). This piece is the original cover for the first edition and was used for all 5 printed editions.

The scenery is clearly inspired by Ed Emshwiller's 1959 cover of UTOPIA Magazin #25 or the ACE Books edition of 'The Sun Smasher'. I do not own the Emshwiller covers but they are on CAF as well.

This is a magical moment for every Johnny Bruck and Perry Rhodan fan to see the original Covers of the first issues. And I just can't stop.

Brink of worldwide apocalypse!  Horrifying commentary on the state of the world with a fantasy look.  An early one that would attract readers with such a vividly indelible image.
