Description

Gene Deitch's wonderful cartoons and illustrations done for The Record Player magazine have been quite scarce. But recently, someone found a small batch of Deitch's originals in a briefcase from the estate of Richard Hadlock, who owned, published and edited the magazine, which had a strong emphasis on jazz. This spot illo by Deitch appeared on the "Records Noted" page in the August 1949 issue of the magazine, and features a beautifully drawn and expressive guitar player.

Great caricature style! The legs getting lost is not important as it communicates what is essential.
