I feel like his time on Thor, especially this Unworthy series, is when Coipel really leveled up his Art style.

There are tons of things I love about this page but the 2 things on this page I'll call-out are:
1) The book is full of Thor being quite expressive and dynamic in his battle scenes, but this page is all about him being alone and inward facing in his thoughts and emotions. Internalised anger and despair are hard things to convey but I feel Coipel does a good job of doing those here with the subtlety you'd expect from an introspective, shamed and guarded 1,500 year old god.
2) I like how he depicts Thor's body as more of an old muscular man/warrior/lumberjack's physique than that of a stereotypical super-hero/bodybuilder. It convey's that his power comes from his lifestyle and who he is, and not because he spends lots of time in an Asgardian gym.

Great page. Coipel's a generational talent - these images convey so well Thor's frustration and "defeat". He looks weary.

Agreed on Coipel levelling up on that mini. That's also where he fully embraced his "no backgrounds policy" ^^
