DescriptionFerd Johnson : Moon Mullins Daily Comic Strip (News Syndicate Co., 1969). Ferd Johnson, longtime assistant on Frank Willard's "Moon Mullins", came into his own as signature author-artist upon succeeding Willard. Apart from streamlining the drawing style (especially when assisted by son Tom Johnson), Ferd's most significant change was to drop the continuing storylines in favor of a self-contained gag-a-day approach. This generous selection provides a representative cross-section of the Mullins gang, Johnson-style, from 1969. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas measuring approximately 16.25" x 5". With light handling and edge wear, faint toning in the margins, text and image paste ups (some which are loose), small pinholes, soft corner bumps, and nicks along the edges.
